Things that are empty:

• Baseball stadiums (this year)
• Broken hearts
• Deciduous tree limbs in December
• The moral bank account of big corporations
• Schools in summertime
• Zero
• My parents' house (even they are no longer there)
• Complaints about the generosity of Santa Claus
• 90% of what appears on commercial TV (my own non scientific study)
• Beaches (these days)
• A person without passion
• A person without compassion

• Closed minds
• Loneliness
• Trash cans on my street on Tuesday afternoons
• They say space is empty but it's not
• The calories in an Oreo cookie
• Politicians' promises
• Hopelessness
• Flat tires (okay, there is still some air but it's not enough)
• Oskar's gas tank right now
• Parents' energy reserves after eight weeks of SIP
• Broadway (now)
• The value of partisan politics
• My wine glass
